The head of the Aquaculture Department of the Federal Fisheries Agency, Alexander Malashenko, participated in the events that are held as part of the 2020 storage program.

Russian Salmon is engaged in the commercial cultivation and processing of salmon in the Barents Sea. Since 2010, the company has supplied the Russian market with more than 35 thousand tons of Atlantic salmon (salmon) and sea trout.

Today, Russian Salmon has 4 modern high-tech cage farms. Development plans for the current year and 2021 include the construction of a new high-tech slaughterhouse and a fishmeal production workshop. In total, at least 200 jobs must be created in the factory itself and in related industries that service and supply the company.

In 2019, 2.7 million smolt of Atlantic salmon were released for farming on cage farms located in Pechenga Bay, and another 4 million in 2020 in Malaya Volokovaya Bay. Starting in 2021, the company plans to import 4 million smolts annually.

The implementation of the established objectives will allow the creation of the first company in the Northwestern Federal District that specializes in the waste-free and environmentally friendly processing of live Atlantic salmon and sea trout. In addition, a closed loop will be provided for the production of high value-added fish products and new jobs will be created for the population of the Pechenga region and Liinakhamari village.
