Fisheries Holding Karat was established in April 2009 as association and inherited its name “Karat” from a Russian fishing company that was incorporated in Murmansk in 1993.
The reason behind the establishment of the Association was a need of Russian fishing companies united by common commercial interests to defend and represent their interest in a close co-operation as well as coordinate their efforts in order to improve the efficiency of the fishing activity and quality of fish processing on-board the fishing vessels.
Another important factor leading to establishment of the Association was a need for implementation of sustainable fishery principles in the fishing activities of the companies
Today Fishery Holding Karat is a non-profit organization based on the membership and established to represent and defend common interests of the members, co-ordinate their business activities in relation to commercial and costal fisheries.
